About Us
Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Bay Area Community Partnerships (BACR) and the City of Concord (Community & Recreation Services) collaboratively operate the Mt. Diablo CARES After School Programs.
CARES stands for "Collaborative for Academic, Recreation & Enrichment for Students".
There are currently CARES sites at 11 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 2 high schools in the Mount Diablo Unified School District.
These programs serve approximately 80-220 (range) students at each school site.
Vision and Mission
Our vision is "Children Learning to Change the World." This statement serves as our guiding principle and leads us in our work with students daily in our programs.
Goals
Students will participate in a variety of activities including:
- educational and literacy program
- enrichment and recreational program
- safe and healthy environment program
The Collaborative
The CARES Programs is run jointly by a collaborative between the City of Concord, Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) and the Mount Diablo Unified School District. The Mt Diablo Unified School District is the lead agency and fiscal manager for the CARES program.
City of Concord Community and Recreation Services and Bay Area Community Resources serve as community partners running daily operations at each of the sites.
The City of Concord staffs the three elementary schools and two middle schools located in Concord:

Bay Area Community Resources operates eight elementary sites, one middle school site and two high school sites in Concord and Bay Point, CA.

Staffing
Our Programs are located at eleven elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. Each site is staffed by two part-time Site Coordinators, one Academic Coach, and a minimum of five Recreation Specialists. Site Coordinators are hired jointly by the district and a recreation partner.
