Originating from Guinea, West Africa, Naby is an
accomplished West African dancer and drummer.
He has danced with the National Ballet of Guinea
and is well respected throughout the Bay Area as
both a dancer and teacher. Now a resident of
Berkeley, he teaches traditional West African
choreographed dance and songs.

Taiko drumming is an ancient art from Japan.
Using large, handmade drums, students are taught
rhythmic beats that requires intense body
movement. Students are taught the cultural
significance of taiko drumming in both historical
and modern Japan.

Internationally-known fold musician, Evo performs
on a multitude of instruments including banjo, fiddle
and accordion. Assemblies demonstrate many
American fold traditions in a concert-lecture format.
Residencies emphasize movement, rhythm and song.

body coordination, history, geography and singing.

Jim Hernandez has enjoyed a long and varied career
working with youth in Contra Costa County. He has
spent the last 7 years teaching a variety of arts-based

Patrick Ball learned storytelling while living in both
Ireland and the Appalachian Mts, where stories are
passed down for generations and ingrained in the
culture. As master storyteller, he accompanies his
tales with the Celtic harp and offers children an

music, its playing technique and folklore.
